Is it possible to stay in the lines when using Prismacolor markers besides having to compensate for the amount of bleed?
I've got this sweet drawing and its getting ruined because these markers bleed so damn much. Has anyone else had any trouble with these?
Thanks! |

um first and formost what paper are you using to render on, and secondly what side of the paper are you rendering onto? that can make HUGE difference. my professors get so pissed at us when we use the wreong paper or the wrong side. Be sure to get Graphics 360, and use the back side of the paper.
HOpe that helps any, you shouldn't have many bleeds beyond that, unless you are bearing down way too hard, or you just refilled your markers (trias are refillable and prisma's are not)

you might want to consider using some of them funny bent rulers to draw curves, what are they called again? you can do lines faster and straighter. that what id suggest normally |

I'm just using them in a 'Pro Art' sketch book.
I can see the ink almost as clearly on the back of the paper as on the front of the paper! I guess the paper isnt made for alcohol markers! ![](images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif) |

o.o your markers will die ...a horrible death..keep away from sketch books...they will suck the life out of them.
Try to find marker paper, tho I haven't had any luck, in the meantime find a smooth and shiny surfaced paper. (Not bristol...i made that mistake). |

To draw with markers you need marker paper.
Any art supply store should have it. (Or at least in Holland they do.)
They'll blend better, use less ink and not mess up the surface under your paper. They'll basically do what they are supposed to do. And be almost workable...almost..hehe
Wow..Markers..I'm getting all nostalgic all of a sudden. That's like 5 years ago..
Maybe I'll try them when I get home... WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME!!!???!!! |

Thanks everyone I appreciate the feedback!
I live in the capital of Wisconsin USA so there has to be somewhere around here that sells marker paper! I'll look into it ![](images/smiles/icon_cool.gif) |

Most of the art stores around here carry marker paper in one form or another.
A friend of mine at school, who does amazing marker renderings, recommended Bienfang Extra White paper to me. It's really smooth stuff, great for what you're doing.
If you're looking around, it comes in packs with a black cover and blue/grey text. I'd say give it a try. |

Yeah that's the stuff. Except I use the 340 (which apparently you can't buy from Dick Blick), which is more opaque.. but the 360 should do you fine.
enjoy! |

What exactly is the advantage or disadvantage to having a more opaque paper? |

Simply personal preference. You would be able to see through the more translucent a little more is all. I doubt it really makes a difference ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |
