I actually came across this while doing a search for "Iris print" which balistic mentioned in another thread. BTW, this post is NOT about the artist linked here, neither a debate on Bryce art or anything like that.

I just have a couple of queries...

1) I wonder what would happen if most of us here submitted our art to one of these online art print places?

2) Whenever I show friends and colleagues the artwork on places like Sijun, they're first response is nearly always:

"Wow, I'd love to have to have a copy of that on print."

So why is there not a facility for us to do this? I can't believe that there's a lack of demand.

there are plenty of artists that frequent sijun whose prints i would buy if they sold them. in fact, i almost hope it doesnt happen because i would run out of money really fast.

HeheHE!!! I seriously doubt that any of those Bryce renders were ever sold for even $5 (including shipping hehe) because you must agree that it's mere poop and the guy is lying about being artist for like 30 years now.

PS: I'm really not sure what people are doing with prints, do they hang them on the wall or something? I would understand on t-shirt, but what a print good for :0

I like having art on my walls. Most of it is my own, but I also have an Ansel Adams reproduction and a couple pieces by Jeremy Engleman. I also have some forum people I keep meaning to get in touch with to try and exchange prints.

But yeah, prints will sell . . . even shitty Bryce renders. For some collectors, the novelty of something being "digital" is enough to make a sale.

anyho, dosen't epilogue have a section for buying prints? - does anyone know of any other sites that do this?

id love to see something like that set up here at sijun, with seperate artists galleries and a print shop, but it would require lots of organisation, a bit of money and some kind of moderator system to make sure that artwork (?) like the superb piece above gets no chance of exposure

A former art instructor of mine called me up several weeks ago regarding an idea with selling and promoting artists work online. I'm sitting in as a technical and design consultant. His ideas are remarkable and we hope to put them into action within a few months. The only thing slowing the project down is me due to 'crunch time' at work.

If anyone is interested in discussing online selling of prints or anything of that nature please feel free to send me an email.

Don't ask me if it works or not, and I don't know if you would really sell any... at least not if you take into account the daily traffic... pretty low. They are new since Nov last year, so maybe they will get better.

Prints from fairly unknown photographers go for thousands of dollars all the time. There's no reason digital artists can't find a market too.

An Iris, or giclee (pronounced 'gee-clay') print differs from an inkjet or poster print in that it uses a very fine spray of water-soluble archival ink. Iris prints are usually done on Arches watercolor paper, and with proper care, can last hundreds of years.
