I'm having a bit of a doubt on the performance of my software. I have Jasc Paint Shop pro 7 and Painter 5.5 but I've heard that Adobe Photo shop is good but a little advice is needed. Please? |

well, what is a good prog and what isn't totally depends on what you want to do.
i myself work with photoshop 6 and painter 6.1.
as you own painter 5.5, yo already have one of the - in my opinion - mightiest programs out there. i use photoshop very seldom. in facxt, i use it only when i make skins for 3d models, webdesigns or something that needs filtering.
for everything that concerns pure brushpower like drawing and painting, painter is my favorite choice. |

It really depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Painter is an amazing program, and probably the most realistic painting and sketching software out there. But, Photoshop is a very powerful tool as well. Some of the best digital artists in the business use Photoshop. It is an industry standard, and very widely used. Do some research online, and look for examples that are in the style you are going to go for.
Hope that made sense. |

id suggest painter7 and photoshop6. get those (very very heavy on the budget they cost like a $100000000000) but when you got them learn all their stuff inside out front to back whatever, but do it and di it good and youll be sorted. in my opinion, youll have a good start if you get those 2.
btw painter 7 is amazing! the inks when you put them on the sheet, they do all sorts of funky stuff like mixing like with real paint!. im still in the getting used to stage |
