hello
my friend who hosts sites is looking for people to host. I figured there's probably quite a few artists here who would like a domain name, but can't afford the (40 bucs?) a month for hosting. of course his hosting isn't free or anything, but quite a bit cheaper... around 15 bucs a month.
you can contact him at [email protected] or on AIM at MGEstudios

he also said the hosting is "semi unlimited"

hope i help someone out here

not to muscle in on your post, but i'm being hosted at www.your-site.com for $18/quarterly, though i could get yearly for $60... up front, of course...
your friend may offer better options, however... anyways, just for comparison's sake:

i get 6GB of bandwidth per month, 50MB of webspace (each additional 50MB is $5/month i think), 50 email aliases, direct-linking, php4, etc... and their customer service, as far as i've encountered, is extremely prompt and efficient...

just figured i'd throw that into the fray...

[edit] crap, i forgot that you mentioned domain name... anyways, i got my domain name registered at www.registerfly.com for $10/year, and it's being hosted by www.your-site.com... [/edit]

ah, that's quite allright, i don't mind.
he said "that's good if you want a host just a notch above a free host"

18 bucs for 3 months? how do they make their money?! they must have lots of people there and got their servers pretty cheap. that's pretty cool though.

sorry, i think that's enough advertising, eh?

the thing is they probalby don't own the servers, they probably "rent" them from a big name comany (something like seanix) which is why they can afford to give the space that cheap, theres nothng wrong with that, but I just though I'd answer your rethorical question

There is no such thing as unlimited bandwith!!! Missused? Does that mean 100 mg, a gig or 100 gigs???? There has to be some sort of rescrittion on the amount of bandwith.

see my post above... 6GB of bandwidth per month for 2 bucks less than addr.com... actually it's $5 a month if you buy a whole year's worth...
