As a new member to this forum I thought it would be cool to know the rules (if any). I tried looking into the FAQ, but found nothing and on the main page there are no specifics I could find.
Are all kinds of "art" welcome?
I've seen 3D and nudity so I assume that's ok?
I feel silly just asking, but it's better to ask than to offend someone with (mild) nudity or post 3D stuff which could be considered of topic to a paint-only forum.

nudity, its generally nice to have a warning in the subject, in case somebody is browsing from work
3d, i wish there was more here. most of the stuff here is generally 2d work, but there are a few very talented 3d artists here.
(side note, should have probably posted this in the discussion forum, this one is more for artwork that is in progress.) |

Well i agree with SporQy ... I would also suggest some sensitivity on subject matter as well. For example posting a portrait painting of Osama Bin Laden may be in poor taste and may incur the wrath of some ppl, so bear in mind that ppl from all over the world frequent the forum and we should practice some empathy when deciding whether to post an image artwork or not. No doubt it would be ideal that this is a forum to critique and comment artwork solely on the merit(and execution/idea ?) of the work and not the subject matter, but one should always consider other ppls feelings.

this is a Digital Art forum.
While all may not agree, any form of Digital art is welcome...
-2d
-3d
-photomanipulation (although Id be careful around these parts with that)
You'll even notice people posting pencil sketches, traditional paintings and sculptures, so long as they are not inapropriate or rude.
Other rules include be nice. you know, do unto others....
and work hard on whatever you do... people who cut corners and arent trying to learn and improve generally dont get very much reponse around here. |

Besides what most people said, if you use a reference or copy from a picture, tell people you used a reference and if possible include the picture itself. It wouldn't make sense to do the exercise and not have people able to tell you where you went wrong.
Also many people find using deceptive names for your posts in bad taste. when it happens i think it feels like someone is trying to trick me into looking at thier art, and they tend to get more "wtf was that" than c&c. |

What you all said is what I figured out myself. I do however think that the forum might benefit if this was included in the FAQ. For instance - I have seen quite a lot of stuff obviously painted from references without any photos attached.
I just wanted to make sure. Maybe you all had agreed that 3D was out and maybe most of you frown at nudity
The only 3D I had seen when I posted this was Sthlberg's - and I thought that maybe you allowed him cause he's so darn good |
