I've done the search of this question but couldn't actually find adequate answer.

I'm sure there are some dual-monitor-users in here. So how do you set up your Wacom with two monitors so that everything really works?

If you imagine, the whole
desktop is much more wide but still same as in the height. So doesn't the
cursor slide faster in horizontal-lines than vertical??

Other thing is, that how do you make all the menus and palettes to stay on
the other monitor when starting up Photoshop? I have dual-monitors but every
time I start up Photoshop, it is like a huge mess. Every time gotta do huge
arranging.

Is there some sorta program to handle this problem?

Tell me your experiences, please.

I use 2 monitors and get a real kick out of it too :P

Firstly check that you have the latest drivers...because they're better. You should have a "Wacom Tablet Properties" program installed after updating your drivers. If you have fairly recent drivers you'll still have this.

It's usually put in the start menu at the following location:

Start/programs/Wacom tablet/Wacom tablet

2. Now choose the pen in the tool list by clicking on the little drawing of a pen.

3. Go to the tab entitled "Mapping/Speed"

4. See the "display area" section of this tab? Here you can choose (on a scroll-down menu) to enable the entire display, monitor one only or monitor 2 only.

There is also a groovy option ("Portion of display...") that allows you to determine exactly wchich pixels of your desktop will be accessible with the pen.

5. The radio buttons labeled "to fit" and "proportional" are pretty self-explanatory...

6. Notice that tracing an image will become royally screwed up with the "entire display" config. Take a CD and draw a circle using the hole in the middle and you'll see what I mean.

Photoshop will remember the placement of everything automatically. Unless, of course, you go around changing resolutions and other things like the monitor placement configuration in the windows video properties.

I use monitor1 and a little slice off monitor2 (with the pen) to reach the tools without having to grab the mouse all the time. 80% of monitor2 is taken up by the navigator anyways .

Please reply if you'd like more explanation on any of the above.

Oh, this was very helpful. I had tried the mapping-thing, but as you can imagine, my Graphire is very small to work with so small area. But now that you mentioned you have only 20% of the second monitor mapped for your tabled, it work superbly on me too.

But the other thing still doesn't work. So how to make the panels and palettes stay on the right places when starting up Photoshop? My Photosop seemly doesn't remember the right places. Every time I start up the Photoshop, all the panels are displayed as a mess.

click this to see what I see when I start up Photoshop.

Here is what it seemed before shutting down Photoshop: click

EDIT: Oh, and that CD-circle draw-test was very helpful for me. Thanks for good ideas.

try this:

Maximize the photoshop window. This will cause the window to occupy monitor one only.
Drag the menues and stuff out to the other screen. They aren't limited to the photoshop window and can be used as "floaters".

Now arrange everything the way you like it.

Choose Edit > Preferences > General, and select Save Palette Locations.

Then photoshop should automatically save the placement of things whenever you exit the program.

I hope it works for you.

Another useful thing to know when you've screwed some setting up and want everything back to normal is this:

To restore all preferences to their default settings:

In Windows, press and hold Alt+Control+Shift immediately after launching Photoshop or ImageReady. Click Yes to (Photoshop) delete the Adobe Photoshop settings file or (ImageReady) erase all ImageReady preferences.

(from the Photoshop help file)

Okay. There already was the option "Save Palette Locations" chosen. But as I did some investigating, I found in the "Display Properties"-window, that when I press the "Identify"-button, it seems like the both monitors appear to be only one. Click here to see clarifying picture

So the question now is, that do you now how to fix this problem. I try to figure it out as well at the same time, but if you know the answer...

I don't have much of an idea as to how you'd solve this.

Here are some things I'd try if the "troubleshoot..." button doesn't lead to any solution:

check if you haven't "use this device as the primary monitor" checked on both.

invert the placements of the monitors 1 and 2 then put them back again.

disable monitor2 and enable it again.

set the monitors to different resolutions and restore the original.

I'm not really sure if any of this would work. They're just a few experiments you can do before mailing (real) tech support.

good luck

The 'troubleshoot'-button didn't do anything at all, maybe something crap in my Windows.

But I still solved the problem. I uninstalled all the monitor and display drivers and rebooted. Then Windows set up the "signed"-drivers and everything works now. Maybe there's something crap in the nVidia Detonators, dunno.

But a big thanks to you Novacaptain. You helped me to get this additional monitor and my Wacom Graphire really work together now. This is just super.
