i've got this senior picture for highschool that i really enjoy. i've cropped it, blurred the background, taken out the tommy icon, stuff like that .. but there's one problem with it: the sunlight peaking through the trees in the picture makes it look like i've spilled a lot of milk on myself. it's a color photo turned black and white .. if anyone can edit this out, as i can't, apparently, i'd be happy.

hmm .. the idea for dpi escaped me when i was doing this. the original obviously isn't useable for the yearbook primarily because it's a bad picture. . i only fixed it by cropping and bringing out the brightness in it .. however, the yearbook company, as i figured out, will only take glossy photos. my alternative is printing out onto a glossy paper with a high definition printer, which, luckily, i have both of sitting right next to me.

so what do i have to do so i can print it out, photorealistic?

also, how'd you go about fixing the light? did you just "fib" it by filling in what you thought was there, or was there a tool you used specifically?

uhm, well it's a photo so in that respect it's as photorealistic as you can get-unless Brian P. gets hold of it, then it will look better than photoreal, but will take 3 months

Seriously, at 72dpi (or ppi) it isn't going to print well at the SIZE you have it even on an inkjet printer with nice glossy paper.
IF your goal is to just give the yearbook people a glossy photo which they will scan in and put into the yrbk, AND you have the original print of the photo-with the 'milky' sleeve...
THEN you can scan the orig. photo(with milkysleeve) at hi-enough resolution say 300 dpi or 600 if you need to crop this orig. again, fix it in photoshop or similar application, and print at 300dpi at the correct size. everyone's happy.
In answer to your query, I cloned various pieces of your shirt from different areas that looked about right, trying to match value and pattern, it took about 3 minutes. At hi res, it takes a bit longer to make it blend correctly, probably having to add some brush work to make it right.
