Yep - i've got that one in my collection - not bad at all in my opinion - still, remember that nothing beats drawing from life |

Another couple of great books for anatomy study is "Dynamic Anatomy" or "Dynamic Figure Drawing" by Burne Hogarth. Older texts, but great for composing from the ground up.
My two cents. BTW, fantastic site here, and even better contributions from the masses. My creative spark has been renewed by this site. |

Yeah - Hogarth is phenomenal - I should have mentioned him. |

Try to find the book called 'Anatomy and Drawing' by Victor Perard from Barnes & Noble publishing. I do recommend this book. It's cheap, only less than 8 bucks. It's great for proportions and anatomy, but not much for others and completely zero for tonal drawing. |

I've seen the book on bookstore shelves.
Speaking of Hogarth... check this out. I've got him clipped to the ceiling just over my head. When I need a quick fix, I just lean back and look up. Don't think I can patent the idea, so have fun...

Woof. Er, Flea, you didn't...uh, mutilate your book did you? Tell me those are scans or color copies, not pieces of the venerable Hogarth's text. Free world, but...[shudders] ![](images/smiles/icon_redface.gif) |

fleabrain, that idea is incredible. Don't know why I didn't get it before. Have to try that out.
In other news, I don't know why nobody mentioned Stephen Rogers Peck's "Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist" yet. It's the best I've seen so far. I was struggling for ages (well I still am but not that much anymore) and that book really helped a lot. More than any other book so far. |
