Ok, I've been doing Freelance Graphics Design work now for about 2-2 1/2 years. I'm finding it hard to set a standard for recieving payment for my work. Now I'm wondering if I can get examples from people what they would charge and or what they think a person should charge for different services.
Some examples.
Web Design
- Add Banners
- Site Layout
- Site Design
General
- Small scale Adds
- Large high quality Adds
- Logo Design
- Business Card Design / layout
- CD Covers (Artwork & or layout design.)
So on and so forth.
I'm currently working on setting a list of cost for the differnt project types that I take on and any insight would be greatly apreciated.
Thanks |

Heya,
You aren't going to really find a set of pricing standards anywhere in the design community. What you charge a client should be unique to their needs.
When I worked freelance I had an hourly rate that could me negotiated into a "package" rate for their entire project. For example, if I charge $100/hr., and they wanted me to do upwards of 20 hours of work, it would cost them $2000. Now, if what I was required to do was a web layout, I'd take that number and work with it to come up with a relatively similar (but slightly cheaper) price for a "package" that would provide them with the specifics of what exactly I'd be doing.
It really just depends on the work you do. If your work justifies $200/hr., you'll get paid that much. Image is everything.
I'm going to try and give you some ballpark figures on some of your questions:
Web design is much too variable; I can't come up with any type of set number for this type of work, no matter how vague.
Small Scale Ad - $500-$1000
High Quality Ad - $2500-$4000
Logo Design - $1000-$10,000 (10k being a fully developed corporate identity)
Business Cards - $500
CD Covers - $1000-$1500
So please keep in mind that this varies a LOT from client to client, designer to designer, and your personal skill sets.
Hope I've helped. |
