I'm trying to come up with a piece of art that showcases the rave scene I have such fond memories of. My only question is though, what is there that I can do to show a general audience of people that have never been to a rave what it's like - how to express through color the throbbing music and the lasers and the motion as a coherent whole. I can't seem to find any conceptual way to express the sound in the drawing, so I was curious if anyone else had encountered this problem before, and how they went about it. |

You probably want to work with color . . . think of what old rave tracks sound like . . . for example, "Energy Flash" by Joey Beltram . . . you've got this dark, slithering bassline and little stabs of electric death darting about on top . . . so visually, I'd represent that as a dark field, with glints of bold, angular colors peeking through. Maybe try doing portraits of people like Jeff Mills, Hardfloor, Frankie Bones, Richie Hawtin, et cetera with those same colors.
Just some ideas. |

make your picture with lots of nice colors, gaussian blur it, twirl it just a wee bit... and you have rave on e. |
