Hi all togeather. As far as I can see the most of you paint your pics with the paintbrush tool. I get used with the airbrush tool. Every time I try to paint(especially shade or highlight) with Paintbrush, I miss the right tones. Often the edges are too sharp and when I use a really big brush it looks like the airbrush style again.

So is there anyone among you who could help a guy near suicide?
Thanx in advance.

I had the same problem, but with practice you discover the advantages of the paintbrush tool. Also, using different tools depends on your personal style of painting.

a good technique using the paintbrush is
painting (mainly with hard edged brushes) wide areas to lay down general (mid)colors to get rid of the white.
If you shade and render things you can play with opacity and change of color value.
Using the "color" window you can change the color value very carefully and precise.
Shade, change color value (only a very little bit)shade again, change....

when you want soft transitions and something seems to edgy for you it's often the fact that the color value are too far away of each other.

there are millions of way doing it
thats a rough way I'm doing it
and I think a good way too start off and developing his own style.
good luck

EDIT
oh forgot
when you are learning a new technique is always a good idea to paint very very simple (geometric) things(apples...)--->that way you can see best if it works and if you have done right
