...well, almost.

It keeps freezing for no apparent reason when i try to use my Wacom Intuos tablet for more than about 10 minutes. I've tried looking for patchs for both the tablet and Photoshop but to no avail? Will a reinstall of Photoshop help? (I hope not... because then I'll have to find the PS4 CD and the 5.5 upgrade, and I'm a lazy s*d)...

Oh, it keeps drawing these wierd Octogram things all on it's own too, but everyone's copy of PS5.5 does that doesn't it?

...doesn't it??

Nex, is that RAM bad? Sometimes it might not show up in general use, but PS can really tax a machine. Once I installed new RAM in an Mac 8100/100 and it worked fine --but PS crashed within 2 or 3 minutes of use. I did everything to that machine. Formatted the HD, reinstalled the system and Photoshop. I removed the entire SCSI chain, all additional cards, software extensions and even called Adobe. Spent a day and a half taking the machine down to the core searching for bad wiring, a damaged motherboard, etc.... turns out it was the new RAM. I felt like an idiot. I had the memory check turned off (a hidden option in the Mac OS) and once it was replaced I was golden. Try removing the new RAM and testing PS. If there are no crashes I'd really have that RAM checked.

I understand you added more ram.
To check if new RAM stick is bad (which i doubt), do this:
Take out the old stick, boot and see if PS freezes. Then put old stick back in, take out the new one. See if it works then.

BTW Nex, where can i grab a win32 version of GIMP? I couldnt find the link on the GIMP site, though a long time ago i remember the guy recompiled it for win32 cause his linux box was down.
