Hey all,
Im new to the forum, but have been doodling in Photoshop for about 2 years now. Mostly doing web art and text art.
I've played with painting inside photoshop. And I realy like the possibility's with it. But I hate my mouse, it just dosent get the detail I want. I get frustrated and delete my work.
My question is, what do you use? I've seen pen and pad sets for PC's. But am kinda clueless as to what would be a good buy!
Thanks for the help. |

Yeah, a WACOM is a must for getting any kind of control with painting. (Although there are still a few people that pull it off with a mouse) There are all kinds of tablets out there...but the best is WACOM. |

Cool, I'll take a look into it. Any suggestions on a site to get to quickly. And do they make a USB version for quick swapping? (I play games on the same machine!) |

Hey,
URL: www.wacom.com
you can choose between USB and Serial and it's possible to use your "normal-mouse", too.
I draw with the pen only.

Ive been using a mouse for about 8 years now
I want an intuous wacom BUT im scared of the drastic change to an extent....
even though almost everybody I know with one tells me i have to get one...its still gonna be awkward for a while right?
I love the mouse but it DOES most certainly limit you ![](images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif) |

Yey!! Glad to see the forums are back! Anyone remember me the long lost absentee? ^,^ Well I would highly recommend a wacom tablet and I honestly have no idea how you could love the mouse. Do you not draw with regular pen & pencil much? Well it may be awkward for the first hour or so but after that you just won't be able to go back to ye olde and doddering mouse! Wow, lots of buttons here ... where's the post reply? Nope, that wasn't it. Oh, there it is! |

I've got the wacom intuos 12x9 and I love it. I don't think there is really any suitable substitute for it. Anyway... I was on Wacom's site yesterday and I noticed they now have an Intuos II line. Anyone know the difference between that and the originall? Besides being black? |

Hey, Syn. If you're looking for a cheap Wacom, check out Ubid.com. I got my 5x6 Intuos, brand new, for less than $100. I've heard this is a pretty good deal. The only catch is that they don't have the Intous line for sale very often on Ubid. Most of the time it's just the Graphire, selling at $100. If you're patient, you can get a good deal.
Cheers

I used a mouse for a couple of years then switched to a tablet. It took a couple of weeks to get used to but once you're used to it you'll never go back to a mouse. |

Hi,
Definitely a Wacom tablet. The best is the Intuos but I saw some Graphires on the Wacom site today for around $30.. varying prices, but that's the general idea. I don't have the URL at hand but you should be able to find it by going to:
www.wacom.com
Good luck, and you're going to love using a pen and tablet. |

Buy a joystick and paint with that, it's way better than the mouse or even the wacom, and it's cheap!! ![](images/smiles/icon_mad.gif) |

worked with a mouse for quite a long time (ms intelli explorer) and switched recently to a wacom intuos 6x8. it's surely a big new thing you'll need to get used to but it's really worth it's money. |

Wacom Wacom Wacom.
No point in being a masochist and use a mouse. Unless you are into all that BDSM thingy ![](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |

The Pad thing is called a tablet/digitizer or something along that line... |

Out of anything that I've ever bought, the best value for money was my graphics tablet. If you don't have one, stand up now, walk out and get one. It does take awhile to get use to it but after that, you just don't go back. |
