gekitsu,
There are lots of tutorials on my site for Painter 5, Painter 6, and many have been rewritten to include instructions for both versions. They're scattered through several sections on my site:
To find them, go to:
http://www.pixelalley.com/pixelalley-sections-pages.html
Then follow the links named:
PAINTER 5, 5.5, AND 6 TUTORIALS, AND LIST OF PAINTER LISTS, FORUMS, BOARDS, NEWSGROUPS
(Tutorials are in the top half, more or less, and list of Painter user gathering places are in the bottom half.. please visit us at In Depth Discussions' Painter Forum in addition to this Painter Forum. http://www.critical-depth.com/cgi-bin/idd/ It's a great one and we're always in teaching and learning mode there.. all versions of Painter back to Painter 5 and Painter Classic, though it's not used much. The Painter list at Topica.com is probably the best one for more technical tips and techniques as many of the users are long time Painter people, and many also are professionals.)
EFFECTS
(A few demos of the use of Painter's Glass Distortion Effect, with explanations.)
CHARACTER MATTERS
(Text treatments, useable in all full Painter versions.)
Feel free to tour the other sections as well, but these are the ones where you'll find tutorials, demos, and explanations for how the images were created.. that can be done in versions prior to Painter 7.
Oh! I forgot about one that's in the Painter 7 Tutorials links. It, too, can be done in any full version of Painter. This neat tutorial was contributed to the Painter 7 Tutorials collection by Steve Friedman: http://www.digitalartmasterworks.com/PainterDemo/realistic_watercolor_effects_wit.htm[/UR L]
Don't mean to overload you all at once. Take your time with everything and most of all...
Have fun!
