Like you say, as soon as i start useing the paintbrush or airbrush it locks up, and after about 2mins my PC auto restarts.
Im useing WIN ME, but ive tryed an old copy of Win98 and it still does the same, It actualy crashed a few times before I used the pen on the tablet, but the problem of crashing goes away as soon as i disconnect to Tablet from the USB port :/
What graphics card are you useing?? is it a TNT2 or a GeForce? I was useing a Voodoo3 and everything worked fine....... but the card sucked |

Yes thank you faustgfx for your very helpfull and constructive post.
Photoshop is what ive always used, and im happy to hear your views on it and maybe point me in the direction of a less "retarded" design program.
Ooh and did I say I was using Photoshop 6?
No i didnt, and im not, im running version 5.5 and still having problems.
Also typing "you" or "u" doesnt realy make alot of differance to me... I still have the problem of my crashing PC and coulndt care less about my spelling and grammer. |

the 6.0 comment was aimed at anyone who uses it. 6.0 is a failure.
i've used photoshop before you were even born. so there. >=|
*shrug*
now the creative input to the issue as you wish.
it sounds really weird to me. the whole driver-reinstallation and complete format imply that it is a hardware issue of some sorts. either the usb port is giving your operating system Bad Bytes(tm) or you've got corrupted ram (really far fetched) or something. *shrug*
i've had some shit with some usb devices with my win2k, win2k has a neat usb device bandwidth monitor thing to it, win98/me/whatever doesn't. the bandwidth monitor is your best friend in tracking issues with usb devices.
win98 crash implies that your motherboard is fucked and has issues reading the usb port properly, or the usb port itself is malfunctioning. can't really help that.
buy a new pc and see if the same stuff happens :P
or it could be your wacom too. try the wacom in another pc and see what happens.

It's because I'm quarter mexican isnt it? ISNT IT!?!?!?!
Damn you people
stop picking on me!
I've had the same problem on my win 2k with photoshop 5, 5.5 and 6.0 now. I think it may be the RAM as one suggested long time ago. |

Ah, if it is a usb interface problem, and nothing else seems to work...try a bios update.
Flashing the bios isnt as scary as most people make it out to be. Rendering your pc unbootable is pretty harmless. MWUAHAAH*snip*
on a serious note, if you do try it
i) make sure its the right version for your board (obvious but fatal). And see if theres a version specific to your problem - the latest revision isnt always the best.
ii) double check the version against reviews or comments on the web to make sure it wont nuke anything
iii) And unless you have some very kind software apps that can do it in windows....get a dead clean boot disk to stash the flash program and bios data on. Crashing mid update its terminal to your pc's health, unless its a dual bios system.
