Yah, I took one online. I did pretty bad. Most of it was really hard stuff that I didn't even understand at all. (Like spacial reasoning and shit like that) But I scored a 120. Good, Bad, dono. But I sure FEEL more stupid now! Great!

141. Had a little trouble with the ones that were missing two or 4 fields, lthough I think what I realized with the last questions might have helped there. I'm lazy though. |

120 = Gifted- I think 115 up to 128 means above average intelligence.
140 = Genius- anything above 128 means genius level intelligence.
I've gotten a couple different results, with a range of 125 to 150. I'll have to test this one out. As a side note- there's a lot of variables in these tests that are difficult to calculate on internet sites, so your results probably won't be perfectly accurate.

I think part of the reason I got such a high score was that this was a more visual test than most I've seen.

Erm, I got 153... but I'm curious. Like affected says, this is a heavily symbolic and graphical test. I do math and know the series numbers and I also do geometrics. This does not necessarily mean genius.
Anyway, for 15mins (test should be less than 20) I am unusually pleased today. |

Alright looks like I'm going to have to lay this out for you guys.
First off the IQ was orginially developed by the military. They realized that trying to figure out someones IQ is a joke. Reason being that there are too many factors. For an example: How can you say that an educated man is more intelligent than say some bum on the street who never recieved formal training. The questions on the test are decided by board members on Menza if I remember right. I've taken an official IQ test and I can promise you that 50% of the test is based on actual knowledge. Knowledge has NOTHING to do with intelligence. Thats the difference between night and day.
In answer to some of your other questions
Average INT is 100 (but I've heard the standard has now raised slightly - maybe 2-5 points)
You are officially considered a genius if an "official" test results with points above 129.
I can rant and rave about this all day.

153
I agree with ceenda and affected though, this test seemed to focus more on the areas I'm best with. I usually have a harder time with tests like this. |

100 is average.
I scored 130 the last time I tried. Thing is, I thought I did poorly. Plus I KNOW I ain't too bright.
i.e. IQ tests suck. |

"V kad ad chyb pedposledn prvek. Najdete jej mezi obrazci vedle (a b c d)."
Okay... Regardless, I got 147.
This test is visual intelligence, nothing else. Not versatile enough to encompass actual "intelligence" as it is normally (intuitively) understood. |

153 myself. Seems to be quite a popular one here. Yeah. I'm going to go and retake it now too. Yeah.
Hmm, the same type of questions seem to pop up in all of these online tests. Very accurate indeed.

156 and I'm 14. I don't think so, lol.
I doubt a visual test can be accurate...I mean, how can you judge IQ by picking patterns out of images? |

The concept of IQ is a joke. Somehow this test seemed tougher than the average online IQ test though. But this test was just seeing if you could figure out their way of thinking in putting together patterns. I think you should get extra points for not being a conformist (not thinking like them)
ex.
1,0,-1,0
they say next is 1
I say -1, and the pattern is x^2-1.
(1^2)-1 = 0. (0^2)-1 = -1 (-1^2)- 1 = 0....
I did the math ones right away (3D programming background may have helped?), got stumped on all their visual ones for a while until I started to figure out their way of thinking.
They seem to like rotation and adding sides an awful lot
Score: 153, took the full 20 minutes probably.
And why is everybody [edit](including me)[edit] scoring so high? The test must score too high... and maybe people who post on sijun are much smarter than average, at least on a visual pattern test
[edit] Or people are lying or the ones who get low scores aren't posting or a combination of the 4.. [/edit]

You think because you scored high, that others didn't?

No not at all, you can post whatever you want on the internet though, so it is a possibility, maybe I posted higher than I got , seriously though I may have taken more than 20 minutes, I didn't time it.
I really think it's mostly the test scores high though, the other online one I took did too I think. 153 is well above genius level, to me this sounds too high to be the mode. And I also think there is no such thing as an accurate IQ test, I don't think grades don't measure intelligence very well either, and the entire concept of "intelligence" is flawed, or at least is a completely personal concept.

I thought the whole thing was very amusing.
I spent circa 15minutes on it, while listening to music on winamp and occasionally checking IRC.
And I didn't go back to check/re-think about the ones I wasn't sure of.
So, we all agree this particular IQ test blows.

got a 159 (missed 5 questions, just about 1 in each section)..don't know what the last question was as I don't speak that Czech or whatever it was (so do I get minus 10 for not knowing Czech? :P ). This is a little higher than I've gotten on other official IQ tests and since I don't think your IQ changes it's probably a little bogus and high.

I say -1, and the pattern is x^2-1.
(1^2)-1 = 0. (0^2)-1 = -1 (-1^2)- 1 = 0....
but that couldn't possibly be right
you get the first digit as 0, when it's supposed to be 1
in fact your sequence would go 0,-1,0,3,8...
but it's true that for some of the questions it would difficult to argue that person a who chose the 'correct' answer is more intelligent than person b who had a perfectly valid reason for picking an 'incorrect' answer
as far as i know, the US is the only place where IQ tests are taken remotely seriously anyway
