I'm surprised no one else has brought it up. I just watched it for a second time today. The whole movie is pure eye candy.
But then it's mind-boggling to think of all the work that went behind creating it. There were so many moments where I forgot that the movie is fully computer generated.
Well anyway, just felt like sharing that. |

Yeah, I was very impressed by the rendering as well. The plot was... well, not exceptional, but not bad. One thing I noticed, though, was that Loki wasn't mentioned in the credits for his concept work (even though I think I recognized one of the scenes he designed.)
And on a slightly related note... anybody know which matte paintings were spooge's? |

That movie was sooo great to watch. There were a few times i forgot it was CGI and not people-action-movie-thingie (most notably when the evil general guy was floating in zero-g to go to the controls to the Cannon Thing). The plot like said, wasn't amazing, but it wasn't bad either so that helped a lot too. I hate it when a plot gets in the way of good effects! ![](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |

I suspected that I wouldn't get any credits. Why should I? I just put nearly to years of my life into that project. Oh well.
I'm going to see it tonight. Can't wait to see how things turned out ... |

Hey there's Loki, I was asking if anyone knew where you were on the Random musings section, fucking sucks that you didn't get acredited for your contribution. Hey man, we'll spread the word for sure.
Which paintings did you do? |

I think thats terrible that you don't even get a credit. Even if theres like 2,000 people working on the movie there must be a way!
Hope they paid you well |

waylon: I'm not sure, but there was one matte in particular that reminded me a LOT of spooge, and that was the sand-colored beach-like scene with the space ships stuck in sand or such in Aki's dream. Hmm, anyway... I don't think that gave away any part of the movie... |

Movie was great. Visually insane. Story ok - did the job. I had a great time. And it also brought up a lot of memories.
Yeah - I'm really sad that I didn't get credit on this one. Not so much for showing off that I worked on it, but it would've been good to feel appreciated with that credit. I gave this movie two years of my life and contributed a lot in pre-production. One of the things I had forgotten is, that I came up with the name for the 'Zeus' cannon. I thought - well - it's throwing lightnings from above the skies. My friend Neville came up with 'bioethereal' energy - we thought those up over a beer ...
I did a lot of conceptual work too.
It just feels like a 'fuck you' - and that's why it hurts ... oh well.
Mattes: the only things that made it in are a couple of earth backgrounds and a vortex when the cannon is firing ... I'll put them up once the movie has left the theatres.
well - onto new things

Yeah its a whole new world when you an create "performances" with CG. Final Fantasy is a great example of this
The whole CG industry needs to get its act together when it comes to credits. Its really like a whole new art form - and when you get new forms, there is always the potential
for exploiting people.
No-one would dream of employing an actor - and not crediting them, I think the unions take care of that. |

The movie was great!
That sucks though Loki
H.R. Giger was shafted by Fox for Aliens, Alien III, AND Alien: Resurection
Then they put the caterers in the credits, how fucked up is that? |

Thats sad that they didn't even credit you loki. Anyway, in the Internet Movie Database site, they didn't even credit the guy who created Aki Ross (it took him 4 years to do her)
I think actors are being over rated, artists should deserve more attention!

Thanks guys. You're a cool bunch!
I think when you leave a project early, you're quite often not getting credit, since you busted out in the middle. So maybe I deserve it.
Also - there is not a lot of work that I did on the screen. Just a couple of earths that are nothing special - I was more active in the preproduction phase ...
Spooge's mattes are sweet. I definetely spotted one, and I think I caught one more. Great work man! |
