I have started a thread in the finished forum for geture drawing. I want to put together a gif animation of different pics of the human form. Problem is,they are mostly nudes.
Does anyone here have problems with the human body nude? I don't want to post something that will offend anyone. And I really don't want to post anything that will get me banned from the forums.
Thanks everyone. |

Anatomy is fascinating, there's no two ways about it. I doubt anyone here with a good sense of art would disapprove of viewing nudes here on Sijun.
I think, however, the way that a nude is presented could give way to people being offended. I think it's usually pretty obvious when a nude is presented in a way that is just blatantly meant to be for some kind of sexual satisfaction. It's not that I find that kind of picture repulsive (wouldn't be a red-blooded male if I did ). It's just that it presents a kind of instantly gratifying ideal that cannot always be obtained in real life and I would not personally put stuff like that here.
Wow, I've gone way off topic here. (?)
Anyway, nudes... GOOD! Blatant sexual content... BAD!

Well, it's hard to say. Figure studies are quite sterile in terms of sexuality, so I don't see a problem.
However, erotic art at its extreme(which is basically drawn/painted pornography)can be offensive to some. This can be a sensitive issue. I think the moderators should discuss this and let us know what the portocol is? |

Everyone's comments make sense.
The pics I find are from artistic nude sites.
Usually black and white and although some may be considered sensual I find none of them to be sexual. Does that sound right?
I think I will wait a bit until more people have replied to this question.
However if anyone would like ot know the site where I go to to get the pics to judge for themselves, just post somthing here and I will email it to you.
Thanks for replying anyone else care to take a stance on this?? |

Most people accept drawing the nude form as art. Unless your displaying sexual acts, there is no problem. And since most people accept it (most artists, especially me, love to draw and study the human form) Im sure artists here will accept it, like it, and give you lots of pointers to make it better! |

I think that indicating that there is a level of nudity, and what level if appropriate (sexual nudity) is a good solution. My view on it is, if you don't want to see nudity, just don't open the post.
I keep up a database of pinup and erotica sites, and it's rather easy to differentiate those that are figure studies, from those that are sexual from those that are just plain pornographic. Pornography usually contains genatalia, and the intent to do things with it.
I think that the range from figure studies to erotica (pinup level) should be fine. But indicate it in the header just to be safe.
The directory of sites is at www.gallerygreen.com, if you're interested.
Take care!

no one has probs with nudes, we're (mostly) adults, and this IS art, which means that the human form can be a central item in our studies, plus we like to gawk at hot ladiez, so post away! |

It's the year 2001. I think the Puritans are out of favor by now. Post away. If I take offense I can look away. I hate that the majority get to assert their prudish morality on everyone as it is. It's ok to show rampant violence on TV, but not a naked body. Something is wrong here.

dont really see why not, Hippie. Naked
women appeal to me, somehow
nothing wrong with the human form.
Like other people are saying - its
how its presented that matters. |

I don't have a problem with nudity, but there is a fine line between making something look beautiful and making something look pornographic...
For instance the photographs posted by Lunatique a while ago I found beautiful and highly aestetic, but the elf posted in the thread below I find offensive, not because it's nude but because it's portrayed in a pornographic way...
This thread! |
