THis may have allready been touched upon, I don't get to these parts of the forum very often so I don't know, but I was just wondering what everybody likes to draw with.

That black Pentel twist-erase is my weapon of choice. I've had it for who know's how long. The small grainy texture is worn down to a shiny smooth plastic now. Countless drawings have spewed from it's graphite tip. It is a good friend.
The others are used everynow and then for their particular strengths and effects.

i use a neat number 2 pencil.. some times i even use another eraser then the one on the "back" of the nubmer 2 pencil.. i get angry when my pencil is dull though.. and even angrier when the pencil sharpener is really crappy and has a short sharpness thing instead of a long sharpness that would keep my pencil sharper for a longer period of time.. i hate that..... i also use a micro-something pen for neat line art and stuff... so yeah.. there ya go.. thats a neat story about your mechanical pencil and drawings coming from it and it being a smooth plastic now.. for real. i like that story agent 44..

Lately, I've been using a Sanford Turquoise 3H for initial sketches, and a 2B for darkening in the lines I know I want to keep. And a pink perl eraser.

So what do you guys use for inking? I've played around with a bunch of pens, but haven't really found anything I like too much. But then again, I'm mostly just doing concept art, so it doesn't matter too much if I ink my pics or not...

Digital: Painter 5.03 with a small Scratchboard tool, painting with Watercolor, Airbrush, scratchboard.

Analog: Mechanical pencil (with shock) and B or 2B lead, .07 (or else I tend to break the lead constantly). Copy paper or cheap printer paper works great. Kneaded eraser, white clik eraser.

sorry about the shit res.
heres the stuff i use most:

pilot fineliner, kick ass, i go through like 20 a month.
papermate ballpoints rule
sakura pigma brush. better than that mars graphic 3000 duo crap.
prisma colours own.
good old staedtler H.
new mechanical pencil. woo woo very nice. nice grip.
various sizes of technical pens. dont leave these out or salesman/buisnessman types come along and mash up the tips with their graceless mongoloid paws.
thats it i think...

WOW, thats was a thrilling ride eh kids? i guess its better than "show us your desktop" haha

I pretty much use whatever I'm closest to at the time. Once I got inspired and used red dirt and water to paint on a gigantic sheet of drywall.

But most of the time I use my trusty mechanical pencil...which...*looks around*
is missing again.

doh!

*me gives mr edible snowman a suspicious look*

hmmmm...

I use mostly a Steadtler Mars-780 2mm led holder with 4h leds. I erase with (this is the coolest thing you'll ever see) a Sanford tuff stuff eraser sticks with a mechanical holder. I use them on traditional Bienfang sketch pad or just plain 8.5 X 11 printer paper.

...And no, I was not paid to mention any brand names. ($$$ hahaha!!!)

Ahhh, agent44, I see you've carved your white eraser into some sort of talisman.. goood, goood....

I've been using a 0.5mm Penstix for inking lately, some guy gave it to me at school.. it's really awesome, it does fine lines and is really sturdy, it won't bleed either.

I usually use blue and red col-erase pencils and a 6b pencil to do the clean lines (lord know's why... I think it was what I grabbed off my desk one day and I ended up using it alot). I also use sculpy and any kind lots of pointy and sharp instruments to mold it mwahahahahaha!!!

in approximate order of frequency of use:

- several faber-castell pencils
- couple prismacolor pencils
- forgot the name of these (no labels), but they're woodless graphite pencils. I love 'em.
- several staedtler mars graphic 3000 duo pens (shush, roundeye! I never tried the sakura brush before...I'll keep my eye out for it)
- staedtler pencils...old reliables.
- sakura pigma micron pens
- prismacolor markers
- click eraser thingy, kneaded eraser, cheap little pencil sharpener (also have a portable electric one)

Other rarely used tools include charcoal, conte crayons, crowquill/hunt 102 pens...

EDIT: forgot to mention that the above are just drawing supplies. When painting I usually use oils, occasionally watercolor/guache.

Hmm, good question here. I usually have an array of tools with me since I keep my backpack with me at most times. I like to keep a few sketchbooks in there, a couple standard sketch pads, a couple Bristol pads and I now have a brown recycled paper pad that has some nice roughness to it and it soaks up marker work really well.

For instruments, I keep around nearly a full set of cool and warm grey prismacolors. For erasing I use a kneaded eraser. I have a mechanical pencil but I don't use regular lead in it...only col-erase pencil lead (usually blue, purple or red), this I use for sketching in basic forms a lot. I have a 6H pencil or two, a couple F's hanging around and a couple B's. My currrent favorite tool though is an Ebony black pencil...I love it for sketching. I keep about five sharpend ones with me at all times. They're really soft but I liken them to something between charcoal and pencils. I really like the soft 'n' sketchy quality I produce with them. I'm currently using some Staedtler pens for my inking. Oh, I also keep a tube of white gouache and a couple brushes in there for highlights.
