I certainly hope this isn't considered spam, and the only reason I am posting this is because I know there are a few people out there that don't have tablets. The National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) has teamed up with Wacom and set some extremely good prices for NAPP members on tablets. I just ordered a new 12x12 for $299. Here are the sizes and prices they are going for:
Intuos 6x8 (USB) - $199.67
Intuos 9x12 (USB & Serial) - $299.62
Intuos 12x12 (USB & Serial) - $299.62
Intuos 12x18 (USB & Serial) - $399.37

If you are interested, go check out the NAPP Website for further info on joining.

*on a personal note, my membership fee has already paid for itself a few times over (saved over $100 on a new monitor and now over $200 on a new tablet). I think it is a really great group, and no I don't work for them. If you do decide to join, you could put JBrock as your referer (hint hint). Thanks

-Eric

When I read the message below, I thought 'WOW' great. Time to upgrade my 6"X4" Intuos.

But alas, with the exchange rate the way it is, I'm finding online purchasing hard. NZD$1=roughly US$2.60 at the moment!!

This is one aspect of software and accessories I loathe ever so badly. I can't be good at my art and producing works, because I can't afford it. New Zealand is (fair to say) quite an undeveloped country. So next time you talk about chucking around US$300, spare a thought for people all over the world, who would also like that luxury.

To put it in perspective, when I used to work for $22,000pa, ($342 in the hand per week) The Wacom I have currently cost me $650...

No offense was meant by it. I merely was posting a good deal considering that the list prices from Wacom are more than double than those listed. Another thing to consider, when you upgrade the tablet you have now, you would still be spending that kind of money.

Ahh, that's cool. I didn't take any offense from it. I was just quietly making sure someone cared I guess

How do you find being a member of NAPP? Useful towards your PS skills? I had a squiz at the site... but again... being a student, the damn money problem

I've found the NAPP helpful personally. They demonstrate some new tips, tricks and workarounds in their magazine. Their website offers a "help desk" type deal, online portfolios, job listings, member tutorials, etc. To be honest with you however, I mainly joined for the discounts that you can get with them. They have deals set up with a variety of stores (Mac/PC Mall, Wacom, etc..) to offer discounts with NAPP members. They have a few things set up with places outside of the U.S. (think a few in Canada and a few in Europe) but unfortunately, I don't beleive they have anything in New Zealand yet. I enjoy my membership with them, but then again, I like anything that saves me money The new ideas and inspiration from some of the things they show are just an added bonus.
