A friend has asked me to design a logo but it is something that I've never really done before. Does anyone have any good tips and links on where to start?
Thanks in advance. |

It really depends on what the logo is for. A logo has to be 1)recognisable 2)memorable.
Pick something relevant to the subject (an image or the initials for example), and simplify it 'till you can't simplify it anymore. |

I agree with the simplification bits. I'm doing a Multimedia and Design course at the moment, and we just covered logos.
I've done only 2 commercial logos, they were simple and quite shitty. But alas, customer was happy.
Another thing, keep it relative to the company. eg, don't draw a snowboard shape for a skate company, or something stoopid like that.
Another tip? Be original. Despite how much I don't like the nike logo, it's the most simple, recognisable, and memorable logo around. All that fame came from a modified "tick"
Go figure... |
