Okays, This is somethin that has been bugging me. I was talking about it in PaintChat, and I feel like posting it to see what you're response is.
It happens over and over again- stneil posts a picture, everyone flames him until the thread is closed. Whoopty-Shit. What buggs me is when I spend a lot of time and work on a painting, then I post it here and no more than 3 people take the time to comment on it. Meanwhile, people are practicley writing novels in stniel's threads.
This is suppose to be a digital art forum, where an artist can show his work to other artists, and get commments/suggestions/help/critizism from thier peers. I think that people are just spending way too much time focusing on trying to teach this guy a lesson, when thier time could be spend doing mucvh more constructive things.
Well I'm done talking about this guy. I'm going to go into the work in progress forum, and try to help some people out. I hope you do the same.

Some people on this board are more concerned with bashing other peoples stuff than actually improving their own!

I do agree to some degree. Most of the artists here do give pretty decent critique I think. Keep in mind that giving critique like the way spooge does from time to time or even the very much missed FredFlickStone did, takes a considerable amount of time. I tend to point out 2 or 3 things that I think really needs improvement. And before I even bother the image must appeal to me. I'm sure lots of other members on the forum feels like this. Giving critique in another language than your own, might frighten some also since it can be rather hard to explain techical issues.

Hopefully of this bull about STneil or whatever he calls himself, will be over soon. I must admit, I joined into fray today because I was a little tired of it too. I don't know if blame can now be placed on me because I joined in though. Their aren't many members here whose only intent is to cause disruption. I think that we should probably just ignore people like that from now on. Don't even grant them the courtesy of negitive feedback. Their are plenty of hard working artist here who want to improve. Too many in fact, for people to waste their time in flame wars.

I don't think that the reactions are so based on hate towards a person as they are based on frustration in the lack of dealing with this person.

Pretty much there are three choices as to what this person is:

1) He is a fraud that is actually another forum member playing a game

2) A forum troll that enjoys playing this game

3) Some kind of mental cripple that does not get it

I don't think anyone here thinks this is a real person with genuine artistic intents or desires.

I don't see alot of people bashing or trashing others art. And I do not count stniel a real post that fits this equation.

The bottom line is this is not being dealt with by the forces that be. IMO - This charade has gone on far too long.

As for the flame wars or flame posts, it is addictive (right or wrong) And, it is easy to do. If the person (that I think is a fraud) is allowed to continue to play this game the forum as a whole will be allowed to decay.

This person and this process needs to end, than the actual valid critiques will increase.

i agree that it is lame that there are so many people replying to his threads.. but they jsut do it to rip on him..no one rips on you so... be thankful if you only get two or three.. that is how it is with me.. i get like mAYbe 2 or three replies and i start crying with joy.. but oh well you know? again.. at least you dont get ripped on...!!
