i personally enjoy classical animation much, much more than computer animation. ive always wanted to get into the classical animation biz, but the demand is so low right now. will it only continue to drop? Computer animation is fine i guess, but when will the technology become so easy that any joe off the street could do it? what happens when we reach realism? then whats the point?
i guess im just bitter. but classical animation is beautyful, far beyond what the computer can do...
thats just my 2 cents, but if anyone in animation would care to enlighten me on something, id be very glad. |

Hey I'm no professional at all, but a while ago one of my tutors said something about photoshop and computers just being tools. So don't worry about some loser cobbling together an oscar piece in 3 minutes! Using them can be easy, but understanding them and making them do what you want is another.
As for being interested in classic animation techniques, that's great, people like Lucas Arts love that kind of thing, perhaps more than a 3D Studio animated scene!
The Final Fantasy movie has to be one of the most amazing acheivements in 3D, but animation? Maybe Disney's Tarzan beats it already....... |

its just sad to me.
classical animation needs a boost, computer animation is just a tool, but...its frustrating seeing it take the spotlight.
i thought tarzan was an amazing film animation wise, and we could use more like it. |
