I don't work for these guys, but you definitely need to check out their buzz pro / lite plugin for photoshop.
Get any picture you like, run it through the light/dark, or big/small stack filters and you have a preeetty good estimate of how a blocked in painting would look. You can simplify it as much as you like, essentially creating inbetweens.
Some of you may not like this. Whatever :P
But for those interested in learning easier, check it out |

Very interesting filter package. Thanks for the link. Commercially, anything that helps save me time is a good tool. I can see some real uses for this.
Like you say, it's also a great tool for helping to learn and observe the tonal block-in technique. |

this is a cool pluging but its programs like this that make people think digital is not a real medium. Us on the forum know it is but for a person who does not know, and then came accross this web site or this plugin, might have a stigma that all works that look like this used this plug in .. again i think the plugin is cool but things like this i feel make digital art take a step back in becomming a more respected medium .. |

I agree that, in the hands of the wrong people, it can be abused.
I don't think most people would confuse a buzzed picture with digital art as we see it in this forum though.
Most of the stuff posted here has either a personal streak to it or is simply different in execution.
Can't say 100% for sure.
I didn't consider much the implications of people using this pluging to 'create art'. All I thought of, when I saw it, was that it could be one heck of a learning tool. |
