I'm about to do a second interview with a company for an artist position that will mainly be shading and coloring and touching up existing artwork for game manual covers and box covers for RPGs and boardgames.
I'm unaware of how this particular company goes about doing post-production touchups. I don't want to be caught unaware during this second interview, so I am wondering what most inhouse artshops do for this type of thing. Are things still literally hand inked? Or is it now more like what I see here on Sijun where lineart is scanned in [or digitally rendered] and colored in Painter or PS?)
I hope that some of the folks on this board that are already in the industry could give me some stats on this.

Depends on the type of artwork really. If it is more like comic illustrations then chances are they are still hand inked IF they are still penciled. If the linework is painted over then it might have just been digitally touched up after the pencil work was scanned. Not really being inked at all. Then of course if it was drawn on the PC then everything after is done on the PC also.
Hope that helps. |

I still draw on paper, but all my serious work is digital...I've come up with methods that I think are pretty good, and they mimic how I'd do things with markers and ink...I used to do everything traditionally as well, but it is much faster and more satisfying to do things digitally. I draw\paint with Painter 5.03 and a Wacom 6x8 tablet...perfect combo I think.
