I just recently got interested in computer art. I've always drawn and I thought this would be a fun hobby. Besides photoshop what else is good for a beginner, and is their any book i should get to learn or should experience be my teacher. Thank you ![](images/smiles/icon_cool.gif) |

Experience is still the best teacher in this field. And, like in every art - training gets you there.
There are Photoshop books out, but most of them put you through tedious tutorials.
I'd stick around this forum and look what other people do - ask them how and why, and soak up what info floats around here. Surf websites and just jump right into it.
Beginning might be hard, but don't give up - ever!
I've actually written about getting into things - kinda - on my webpage - URL is in my sig - go in the 'digital illustration' section - info is basic, so it might be worth a read for you

The next thing you need to get after photoshop is a wacom tablet. Otherwise, loki's advice is great. Watch what other people do, ask them how they do it, and go through a few exercizes and see if you can mimic their style.
And post your work here - you'll get invaluable advice. |

Painting with a mouse is possible but the techniques used are way different then using a tablet. Doe to lack of pressure sensitivity, the smudge tool (used carefully) and the free PS2Rate app are very important when using a mouse. |
