I live in Sydney, and I was talking to some guy that works at TAFE (kinda like a college) - In the design center there.
Anyway I was telling him I was about to buy a drawing tablet and he said "whatever you do, DON'T get one" apparently they have upgraded to some sort of cordless remote pen (?) and all the wacoms are thrown in the storeroom...
is this guy talking bullshit? Has anyone even heard of these remote pen things..?
If I don't hear any more about this, I am buying a 6x8 Wacom in the next few weeks. |

cordless pen? No Intuos have cords anyways, so what the *cough* is he talking about? He probably sniffed his own fart. Or maybe I'm wrong. >8/

I've never heard of these "remote pen things"... I think that's just bullshit. Go for Wacom. |

Maybe he refers to some very old CAD-Boards. If it is so, tell him, he should get a look on actual artist tools... my intuo works fine without cord.

Hi fellow Aussie!
That guys is talking crap. He is obviously talking about some other tablet that has a cord and mistakenly named it a Wacom. So forget him...
I am an Aussie like I said. I live in Brisbane, so far the best prices in OZ I have found are from a company called Downtown Software (<<yes they sell hardware too! eg. Wacoms
they are based in Melbourne. Visit www.downtown.com.au for the prices. OH and if you happen to find better prices than this, let me know!!!

thanks for the replies!
Collosimo > The guy actually said it was some kind of pen without a tablet, not a wacom..
Anyway I've decided to get a wacom now - thanks for that link - the prices are excellent ($549.00 AU for a 6x8)!
I think I'll order one now.. thanks again

He's probably talking about that Sony shit, it's nothing more than a rip of wacom tablets though.

that's pretty cool but it dosent look like it's presure sensitive. if that's what the instructor was talking about I think they were just trying to look hip and didn't really know what they were saying. |

Does anybody have one of those two thousand dollar screens you can draw on from wacom. The LCD pen tablet series. I was just checking them out on their web site, dreaming that is. I don't have that kind of cash to throw around and I suppose most other people don't either but is there anyone who has one and if so how good is it? Do you have to look at the monitor at all? How good is the resolution on the LCD? Would you rather just use your regular tablet?

Eric - forget those tablets - the resolution is too little and it's not necessary. They made those for people that are afraid of the transition from classic media to the screen.
Intuos tablet are as good as it gets - if anyone wants to enhance the experience, get one of their 'widestroke' pens - they are a little bit soft and are easier on the hands - a worthwile investment! |

549 dollars for a 6x8 ?
thats kinda expensive ..
i got my 9x12 for 400 Singapore Dollars..
there was some kinda of sale at the time, but normally it would cost around 480$ for a 9x12 Wacom Intuos USB port. |
