http://www.wacom.de/Products/LCD_tablets/plseries/plseries_e.htm

My employer is thinking about purchasing one. I'm a bit doubtful as to whether this would be such a good idea or not - from what I've heard, it has rather crappy pressure levels and perhaps not the kind of resolution needed to create nice art =\

I mainly want to know - has any of you tried this pen? And if so, was it any good / worth the money?

Have you heard anything else about it, or maybe about any alternatives?

Thank you for /any/ help you can give on the subject =)

Stay away from it like it has an STD ...

The surface is a little bit too matte on those which I saw. Makes a little halo around the bright area.
I'm sure it's more sensitive to enviromental glares.
I looked at the link - they didn't mention the resolution on that thing - probably too low I guess - certainly won't do 1600x1200 (or maybe? hmmm)

For that money you can get a nice 21" monitor. Or maybe even a 24"???

Or tell your boss he should give you the money - just for fun!

last time i checked wacom's lcd displays did 1024x768 at 120 000 colors or something like that, and the image quality is horrible, and it works when it feels like working.

Thanks =)

That's really what I thought... just felt a need to check with people who'd know better than me.

I'll stay away from it =)

(Wish he could give me the money... Heheh...)

starfish: Thank you! =D

DiXter: Aah... Hmm... How to describe that. I have two jobs. One at the University of Ume - the local university, that is. I am employed by HUMlab, a computer room, basically and is part of the crew there (holding photoshop classes, drawing posters, that kind of stuff)

The other job is at something called Interactive Institute, where I think my title would be "junior scientist"... though I mostly draw posters and other similar things for that job too. Does that explain things? =)

Hi Enayla,

I'm not sure if they're available there, but you might want to check out the wide screen Sony monitor instead (24" cinema display) they are really nice, offer high resolution and good color, and best of all they give you a bit more room on the side for pallets.

On the other hand, this place isn't exactly very interesting. Right now, it's spring - and there's sploshy snow everywhere =/ Gaaah...

Enayla: Does the fact of you living in a forest make you draw of those elves? (I'm kidding of course.)

If anyone in the States is interested in buying the Sony monitor, don't pay more than 2000-2100 for it... you can find good prices on line. Canadians have to get them shipped here from the US. (high shipping)
