Heya guys,
i'm not sure i've seen it before, so how to build your own custom brush in ps or painter? I don't mean just changing brush size/opacity, but apply a custom texture or pattern. Something linke assorted.abr in photoshop's build-in file... any suggestion, ideas?

I don't own Painter, so I don't know about it, but in PS you can create a custom pattern for your brush by drawing it in Black & White & Grays (Black for full opacity, white transparent, grays inbetween)
selecting it with a rectangular mask, then bringing up the Brush Palette (Click the little > arrow near the upper right of the Brush Window) and selecting "Define Brush." Then you can click on your newly defined pattern and set the spacing.
Maybe you there's more you can do with defining brushes in PS, but that's all I know about. |

Painter seems to have infinitly customizable brushes. I don't have a copy of it at work, so I'll look and try to give more info when I get home. As far as textures go, your best bet is to use different "papers" with a brush that picks up a lot of grain (like chalks). |
