Firstly... colour, yes, colour, that is how it is spelt folks. Also, you people should drink more tea...
Anyway, I'm currently reading through a neat book called "Composition of Outdoor Painting" by Edgar Payne. In the book it talks a bit about selecting a palette limited by different 'points'. It talks about how artists like Constable used 4 - 9 'points' in his palette.
I've read over this stuff again and again and I can't quite figure out what the author means by 'points' in a palette.
Is it referring to a set number of hues that the artist uses, or is it related to how light or dark the colours are that are used?
Given the massive range of colours available on computers thesedays I tend to just pick out colours from the available spectrum that appeal to me and hence I have little or no knowledge about palettes at all.
Any thoughts/links with regard to selecting a palette would be good, presuming even I know quite what it is I'm talking about...

(I have no clue, but I would assume they would be 4-9 hue points on a color wheel..)
