Any one ever used scratch board? It's a pain in the butt, but you get some cool pics when you're finished...

scratchboard - good stuff.
Ever use the silverbacked kind? That's some cool effects.
Tools and techniques - a scraper, an x-acto knife for fine lines, and an eraser. Also it's good to have some india ink and a brush handy.

Make your own scratchboard! Here's how: take some good old crayola crayons and start drawing away, really thick so that you coat the paper. Then, brush india ink over that. Let dry, and then start scratching away!

Digital scrathboard in Painter: fill your picture black, and use the scratchboard tool with white color. It's pretty cool too, and one of my favorite "brushes" in general.

A not-so-stiff wire brush works well for shading sometimes. I never really liked it, but the 'undo' option in computers has spoiled me.

Heh, many times I have screwed up a piece of art in real life, and the first thing I thought was "Control-Z!"

I think everybody has done that once or twice. I know when my friend spilt pop on her painting she had spent 3 days on the edit>undo wasn't there... a few colourful words were though.

I love scratch board! And Intaglio printing as well.
I seem to do better with black and white than color.

scratchboard rocks...
Here's a scratchboard I did back in 1998 (yea... that's 3 years ago...) http://www.perilith.com/~totally/foxy.jpg ...this is not the completed piece.. i scanned this before I was done... I don't know whatever happened to the finished version.

And there's a couple of random scratchboards i did at http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/Forum5/HTML/001650.html

This is the only scratchboard I've ever done but I loved doing it... I wish I had more. I did this when I was 15 or 16 I think.
