Okay maybe fuck me, but as soon as i read that post to which I am replying to i noticed a few things...

1. Only 1 post
2. Looking for pictures

But that's besides the point....I realized that for all we know it's some josh gans guy back on with a new name looking for more pics...by the way I'm not saying that you're him...it just made me realize how easy it would be for him to do that seeing how someone already posted a link to Alan Tews site which would be a pot of gold for that type of thing....anyone I'm just blabbing and i'm not accusing you of being Josh gans..It just made me realize what dumb cocks people can be.........

Dude: It would be even easier for someone to not even bother registering, and steal all of our pics without us knowing. That's just the way the internet works. If everything's publically accessible, anyone can take whatever they want, and do as they wish with it.

Stopping image theft at the source isn't going to work. Pretty much the only thing we can do is catch people in the act, then do our best to make sure they don't profit from what they've done.

the_grip: Read the FAQ. There are a bunch of links to web galleries at the bottom.

One trick to protect yourself and artwork is to put it in a flash .swf file on a site... no jack-offs can right-clicky then!

Hey Grip. Don't let the natives get to ya. They're all hyped up over another 'outing' of some guy trying to pass off other's pics as his own (as you've seen). There's one about every two months. Keeps things lively.

Are you familiar with Elfwood? http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/

there's a lot of stuff here of varying media and skill level, but pencil sketches seem to make up the bulk of it (if memory serves. I could be wrong).

thegrip: there are programs designed specifically for the purpose of extracting the elements of a .swf file. Yes I know the ripper would have to go through a lot of effort to get the pic but it is still quite possible.
If you really want to protect your stuff you could try getting a script that makes it so that users cant right click on your page (antileech scripts will work). This wont stop everyone but it will piss most rippers off so much they will just give up (however it could also piss off your visitors who want to see your html code or something...)

People, People, People.....*sneakily pushes the print screen button* MUhahahHAHHHAH!
seriously though if they can see the pic on the net than they can just do a print screen voila! I think the only thing that we can do (sadly) is like put a huge friggen' stamp in the work or something like property of blah blah blah anyway...how do y'all know that I'm not ripping peoples artwork off right now? you can't, which is stupid, i don't see any other answer than that sort of thing....the stamp...i just don't know

[EDIT] *Phrase deleted to due to strange ramifications concerning the school girls of america social union*

People, people! Don't get all security paranoid! It's starting to sound like the RIAA around here.

Outside of extrme fame, the only security is community.
Why do you think this latest example was found out at all? (rhetorical)
