Technically speaking the ADB (Apple Desktop Bus) connector is different than a serial connection. If you have a serial connector --and can verify it-- it's possible you're using an old PC Wacom tablet. You're in uncharted territory trying to get that to run on a G4.
Chances are it's an ADB tablet if you've ever had it running on a Mac before --and in that case Ko is right. The ADB to USB adapter works flawlessly --I've had one running on a G4/400 for over eight months without a single problem.

Actually, Macs came standard with 2 serial ports since 1984 I believe, and the larger WACOMs (like my old 12x12) plugged into the serial port and had a separate power cord. You should have no problem with the right adapter.
If your WACOM cord has 8 pins, you need a serial to USB adapter. If your WACOM cord has 4 pins you'll need an ADB to USB adapter. |
