What books should I buy to improve drawing figures w/wo clothes, faces and facial expression (maybe some books for comic-like style?). Books on perspective drawing would also be good for me I think.

Anyone know Facial Expression by Gary Faigan? Good Book?

Man, spelling mistake in the subject is really embarrassing!

[edit] Sorry for this thread, simply forgot the search function.

Download the Loomis Project pages by Anthony.

Ron Lemen's list:
Andrew Loomis-Figure Drawing for all its worth
Andrew Loomis-Creative Illustration
Andrew Loomis-Fun with the Pencil
Andrew Loomis-Drawing the Head and Hands

Anatomy:
Bridgeman's Complete Guide to Drawing from Life
Stephen Peck-Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist
John Vanderpoel-The Human Figure
Fritz Schider-An Atlas of Anatomy For Artists

Perspective
Dora Miriam Norton-Freehand Perspective and Sketching
Arthur Guptill-Sketching as a Hobby
Guptill-Sketching and Rendering in Pencil
Ernest Watson-Creative Perspective for Artists and Illustrators

The Famous Artists Courses from the Fifties to the early 1970's

NOTE: Most of these are out-of-print books you will have to research on-line to find. Some are very expensive but worth it.

To the perspective book list I would add a recent book:
Perspective Drawing Handbook (new edition)by D'Amelio - If you were to get only one perspective book this is the one.

For drawing heads I would also recommend another recent book "Drawing Expressive Portraits" by Paul Leveille - it covers technique, materials and variations very well - but not as thoroughly as the heads and hands book by Loomis.

Good Luck

P.S. Faigin's book on facial expression is simply awesome. I hadda buy it when I saw it. Incredible depth and great examples - it's exhaustive. Well worth it as a reference - however, I think it's most obvious use might be more for animators.

I'd recommend any books you can get by Glenn Vilppu. They are avaiable on amazon
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/index=books&field-author=Vilppu%2C%20Glenn/107-3489797-0779716

Glenn's one of the best living instructors out there, and his books are very clear and direct in their method.

Good Luck!
