I've been looking at colleges a lot lately but in particular these two. I here that Henry Cogswell offers a lot for the aspiring artist but is expensive, and then on the other hand I hear that Seattle Art Institute is cheaper yet totally overrated. I'd like to look into concept arts, so which college would be best for this? Anyone who knows about these colleges please help! |

First of all, if you think Cogswell is exspensive, then you'll have a hard time with SAI.....Cogswell is also a private Collage which specializes in DigiStuff. I consider it cheaper compared to other private schools. A plus, the requirments to get in aren't that hard. You'll need at least a 2.7 gpa, and at least a 950 SAT score(Act optional). The main thing they observe is your portfolio. So what you need is the skill in art. They look at sketches and Digital work. And if you're interested in Maya, Softimage, and....(that new one...I can't remeber), LightWav, MAX....this is it. class size is about 30 students. I'm going. Don't know about you tho....hope this helps.

I know some artists at my work who went to Seattle AI, and I've heard mixed reviews.
I heard they're Illustration department was good, and the CG is getting better, but I can't say that from experience. Personally, the feedback I've gotten has NOT been good enough to make me want to attend either Seattle AI or Cogswell. It's mainly because it costs so much.

Personally I'd say Cogs is a better choice. We have the awsome connections on top of working with a broad range of media. You can choose your focal point of where you want to study.
I'm going to be takeing graphics design since its going to be the closest thing to concept art that I can find at Cogswell. Their 3d modeling program there is great as well.
