I recently purchased a book called "Brom : Darkwerks".
well, what can I say? If you (for some weird reason) haven't heard of him I urge you to get a hold of a copy of your own.I'm just awestruck! wow, what a guy...
A word of warning though; looking at his work will possibly have a very serious effect on your selfesteem,be warned!

I too own a copy of Darkwerks. Brom is one of my favorite fantasy artists. I love his mix of dark, gothic imagery and fantasy themes. Plus, he lives in the Seattle area, so he's cool in my book...

v1510nary : I bought the book in sweden and paid something like 20$ for it...

The thing that I find most striking with his images are the way he uses colour; very high contrast, yet its all very subtle. And his characterdesign isn't half bad either

I actually bought Darkwerks a few weeks ago... I couldn't stand not having it anymore

I can recommend it to anyone interested in dark fantasy.

It's a shame all the stuff you see on the net is all pulled right out of darkwerks. I KNOW he's painted more than that! I have a book called "The Worlds of TSR", for instance, with a bunch of paintings I've NEVER seen anywhere else... besides the covers of Dark Sun D&D modules, that is.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to his new book. Do you know what it's called, boomstick, or any other news about it?

waylon - supposedly it'll get the title - ' Brom's little black book' 64 FC pinups 4"x5" squarebound. Around 30 of the paintings have not been collected before. From what previews I have seen there will be some pictures from Darkwerks in it. I guess mostly the more polished of the pinups, but we'll see. I believe the book will ship in april or may this year... Look out for it!

'Worlds of TSR' is also a great book, which features some of the erlier work Brom did for TSR. The reason you haven't seen it anywhere else is that TSR is very strict about printing artwork outside their domain. Another fantasy artist; Keith Parkinson, wasn't allowed to use any of the paintings he did for TSR in his book 'knightbridge', which is also one of them must-own books...

Brom has done many illustrations for game boxes, such as the classic Doom2 screen you see when you fire up the game/ with the cyberdemon and the marine.

Mageslayer and Diablo2 as well. A very talented guy.

Yeah, Brom also does art for Magic: The Gathering (a popular CCG). I met him at the San Diego ComicCon last summer... and had him sign a nice glossy photgraph of Don Knotts !!! Don't ask why

There's a great website for fantasy and sci-fi art called Art History. It has tons of work by Brom and most other greats that you can think of, as well as pieces by traditional masters.

Hey milesg, I'm a student at UCSB! Are you going to school here too?
