the painting doesn't lag at all, in fact it's faster than photoshop 5.5, but the menus are slow as hell. It takes about 10 seconds for the 'new layer' screen to popup. The 'preferences' take about 2 mins. god! does anyone know how to solve this? i've already set the mem&cache usage to 85%, and set up 2 scratch disk (not that it would help). argh. some upgrade

Photoshop 6 sucka...
I love Photoshop, when i kwen where get the 6 i use 2 days in 56k modem to download 120mb for NOTHING !!!
Great fonts tools
Great layers Effects
Etc...
Shortcuts CHANGE.. SUX
The Guides dont work good. You can use guides in a 4x4 px in the midle of image, sometime you get a retangule 2x4 and another 3x4... 3 + 2 = 4 !??!?!?
More Slow... I use P233 96Ram, Voodoo 16Mb, 20gb Fireball Quantum...
In resume... i continue using Photoshop 5.5
Unfortunitely

Sorry the great Broken English.

You all know what you have to do... you have to abandon photoshop altogether, and come to the light side of the force... painter 6!

Of course you know I'm kidding. I've seen some amazing things done in Photoshop, and Painter isn't competing with it, but I can do *almost* everything in Painter that my graphic design buddies can do in Photoshop, but what I can't do is insignificant, but I can do so much with Painter, that I can't ever do in Photoshop. I have both programs, but I use photoshop so infrequently, that I can't do the simplest of things in there (I know this, from when painter crashed on me).

Killer Spoogen (sp?) uses photoshop, and I can't think of a more amazing painter. That fella needs to get in Painter and disrupt the order of the universe.

So... just felt like dumping a truckload of thought out.

Anyone ever tried to shift rightclick?
There you have the brush panel, wherever you want it! And that rocks!
(Tip, configure the button on your wacom pen to rightclick.). Also that they have bette built in vectorgraphics rocks!

And about upgrades, that's built-in in since photoshop 5(.5?). Just klick the image on top of the tools panel (if i don't remember wrong).

Try putting your windows swap/page file on a different partition than your photoshop swap file. This should speed things up considerably.

If you don't know how to do that, get in touch with me: [email protected]

I have one question about PS6

In PS5 and on the layers window there's the "Preserve Transparency" checkbox

Where is it in PS6? I can't find it... Can anyone explain this to me?

Hi there,

In the layers window, at the top are four checkboxes. From left to right they are:

Lock transparency
Lock all painting on layer
Lock movement of layer
Lock all

Hope this helps
