well, the falling-into-page-two-void problem is gone so it's a plus (till membership reaches the next threshold)
posts tend to get more replies now that everyone doesn't feel stressed about getting through so many new threads in one page. so quality is up.
good thing to drag people kicking and screaming into the new millenium... (um...)

i think it's great, but jumping from furum to forum is kind of a hassle but I think it's worth the trouble. |

It works for me. Its nice to see that threads don't disappear as insanely fast as they used to.
Thumbs up. I think it should live as is.

I like the way things are now.
I have to agree that sometimes the difference between posts in the Work in Progress and the Gallery forums is marginal but I prefer the split of these two just for the sake of posts staying on page 1 of their respective forums for a longer time.
I think I feel more comfortable now, things are not as hasty as before.

I like the change I guess. It does keep topics more visible and it was good to create this Art Discussion forum separate from the other two.
I just open multiple windows anyways...right-click and "open in new window" and only use the refresh button if it's one of the active posting times (evening and night). |

Well, I'm pretty new, only been here around a month, so I don't have a great deal of experience with how things were before the change.
It seems to me, though, that it is now easier to find what you want to look at (and perhaps, avoid what you aren't interested in ), which is especially handy if you don't have a great deal of time available to wade through a combined forum.
Also, there appears to be a greater amount of art being posted, with the Gallery and WiP sections moved away from the discussions, and more discussions too, as if seperating them gave them both more room and encouragement to grow. It might just be me, though, as I said, I wasn't here long before the split. |

except you can never find the thread again.. |

Freddio, read my post from earlier if you want to quickly find threads you've replied to yourself and want to see the havoc you caused . Just do search on your own name for posts within the last day...you'll get every post you've replied to within that time specified. |

I like the way the forums are right now. You shouldn't combine them or anything. Just leave them as they are(perfect). |

I like it just the way it is. Major improvement from the way it was before.
I personally dont think it would be such a good idea to combine the gallery/finished art with the WiP section. The way I see it, if we do that, then it'll be the same as before, too many threads, too little time.
Just my opinion

A thought that occured to me while I was driving home in my car tonight:
Maybe adding a seperate forum for 3D rendered art would be neat. I know that now there's hardly enough 3D art in here to justify that, but adding a 3D forum would possibly help attracting 3D artists, which would IMHO be a great addition to this community.
I am very interested in 3D art, but it's hard to learn 3D stuff without a 3D critics forum around
But then again I guess this has been discussed in all detail before the split anyways.

It's fine I think. Although, note how 'Gallery' is bigger than the other two put together. In any case, probably better to give it a month or two more and see what happens. |
