it could be just forgetting to refresh the screen. press the '1' key to refresh it. another things. are you running max in openGL mode or did you leave at the default software mode. cause the openGL mode can cause problems like that sometimes |

Hey guys, I was just hoping someone could answer my quesitons. I just got 3d max and I am on pentium 3/655mhz with 127mb RAM and a stock video card that plays DVD quite well. Anyhoo, will this be enough??? I also have Lightwave,Maya, and SoftImage do I need anyhting special hardware wise to run these programs??? And all the files are in zip format so do I open all of them and just try to find the set up program???
I need help |

kidkinetic: Your processor is fast enough, but depending on the complexity of your scenes, you'll probably need another 128 megs of ram. (It's cheap now, though, so don't worry.) You'll also want a good 3D-accelerator video card, otherwise max will run unbearably slow. Something like a TNT-1 is good for low-polygon modeling, but hell... you can get a TNT2 for like $30 online nowadays.
And sorry, can't give you any help installing those programs. This is a no-warez board, afterall. |

Or try switching to DirectX, just to see if it works any better. I've had odd problems with both, depending on what video card I'm using, and switching usually solves the problem. |
