I'm having a little trouble getting used to the tablet. Maybe its my own fault but the way I've always sketched invovled rotating the paper a little bit at times so i could control my strokes better. Is this a bad habit? The problem I am having now is that you can't rotate the tablet (it doesnt have the same effect) so I am having trouble drawing lines in certain directions. Is this just something I have to get used to? How long did it take you to get comfertable with the tablet?
also is there any tutorials that speciffically cover the useage of a tablet? or any books?
Thank you for any responses (this board is great!)

i know your pain, tripclaw. I have the same "problem"... with paper, I got used to adjusting the page so I could draw strokes in different directions easier. but you obviously can't do that with a Wacom. don't worry though... after a while you get used to it. You don't have the exact same fine control as before, but now I can draw lines in pretty much any direction, no problem. It comes with time... give it a few weeks. Good luck man |

You can rotate your digital canvas in Painter (which comes with the tablet), to achieve the results you pretend (I guess). |

Well I had an idea. If you really want to be able to rotate your wacom, then why dont you! just make a simple platform that rotates! like a lazy susan (the thing in restauraunts in the middle of table that you put dishes on and rotate). A simpler way would be to just put the tablet on your lap and move it around a little.
Of course this is just an idea, and only if you really cant break that habit. Give it time though.
most important thing: Please be careful of the cord and the connection when rotating!
I hope this CrAzY! idea is useful...

rotating the tablet is a great way to screw your drawing !!!!!!!!! The thing is that the screen should rotate in synch with the tablet
Anyway Tripleclaw, I understand how you feel ; I work in animation and we spin our sheets on disk all the time to have the better line possible... Like TurboYVR said, practice's the best. You can also make a hot key (either on your keyboard or on your wacom pen) to flip your image verticaly or horizontaly to change the angle of your line to trace without having to rotate the canvas and lose pixels in the process.
cheers -ege and her two bits

I agree with Collosimo. I don't have a tablet but I used one once before. My first picture was great but I guess it just comes from my quick learning skills. I found that I rotate the tablet often to get better results. But that all depends. We had an old tablet moving that ting would be a lot of stress.

I agree with tayete. Painter will let you rotate the image in realtime without losing image quality. Also, it's a snap to get your image pack to the original position. |
