I've been having a problem with Photoshop lately. Whenever I try to save a .PSD, I get an error:

Disk Error - 39 while reading or writing virtual memory file. Sorry, but this error is fatal.

And then it crashes and I lose whatever I've been working on. Has anyone else had this problem? And is there a way to fix it?

No idea Tinusch, sorry. Maybe try reinstalling it if you haven't already. Or play around with scratch disk allocations. May just be Photoshop doesn't like your hard drive.

windows sometimes screws the FAT-table and it says that you have more free disc space than you really have. what Im trying to get to is that you probably have to little disc space left to save the file. It takes a few mbs extra when your saving depending on the size of the pic.

That sounds like a Mac error. Check your HD space and that the scratch disk (the area that its writing the virtual memory to, isn't full or near full) (800 megs is a good safety zone) Due to the fact that Adobe is a major monopoly, they have their own quirky way of writing stuff to the scratch disk, and they don't purge the scratch disk often (bigger problem in 5.0 and up). Also you may have the scratch disk being defaulted to whatever drive you're reading the file you're using from. If that's the case if you're reading a file from a Zip disk, or CD, there will be very little scratch disk space or none at all. Check that out.
