I was just reading the anticz.com heads drawing tutorial. I wonder whether the procedure is 100 % good. Ron Lemen starts out with a circle, halves it and adds another half at the bottom for the chin.
So as a result you get one third for the length chin to bottom of nose, one third for bottom of nose to eyes, and one third for the rest of the head.
However, common anatomy measurements confirm that the length from chin to eyes should be the same as eyes to top of the head, and I was able to confirm that measurement on both my skull and the skulls of pretty much any person I ever met.
Checking his results (on his sketchbook pages) I found that most of his skulls have a ratio of 2 parts to 1 part, chin-to-eyes to eyes-to-top. While his heads look pretty right I think they look a bit more like comic-style heads and not like realistic heads.
So would anyone care to comment on this, maybe Ron himself ?
Don't take this wrong, please, I love his art, he's a very good artist, but I am asking this because I don't want to learn anything wrong and don't want others to learn wrong things.

all the best,

the 2/3's line you mention in the tut is actually the brow line, not the eyes. the eyes are still at the half way mark and in the right position.

no harm, no foul.

actually when you asked, i went and looked at the tutorial and for a second i said, man, he's right. i can't believe ron would do that then i saw one of the heads in three quarter view with that brow stickin out. so i can see how it would be confusing
