Hi all,
just saw this announcement on Comics Continuum. Thought you might all wanna know about it.
TwoMorrows Publishing is launching its new quarterly magazine, Draw!, in April.
Edited by Mike Manley, Draw! is a professional "how-to" magazine for comics artists, cartoonists, and animators. Manley will call on his experience in the business to gather and share the collective knowledge of many top and diverse professionals, and put it all in a handy "how-to" format.
The first issue features articles by Dave Gibbons, Jerry Ordway, Bret Blevins (who did the cover), John Costanza, Shane Glines and other pros sharing tips and tricks, and demonstrating everything from penciling and inking techniques to coloring, lettering, storyboarding, Photoshop skills, and more.
Manley said he feels Draw! will fill a niche that's been overlooked by the Comics industry -- a true trade publication, by and for professionals.
"While beginners will certainly find Draw! of interest, we won't be holding anyone's hand," Manley said. "We'll present information on a professional level--this is not 'How To Draw Comics the Marvel Way.'"
Each issue will feature historical articles on forgotten artists, discussions of tools and techniques, as well as articles on important business issues like negotiating contracts, copyright and trademarks, the internet and on-line publishing, as well as exploring new avenues to earn income.
Sounds COOL!!! |

Now the only problem would be how to get that magazine in Germany.
I would certainly love to get it.

Oh dear.
Well, over here in Malaysia, I place an order at my local comic book store and they order it for me on a regular basis. That's how I get my Comic Book Artist magazine.
Alternatively, you could check out the TwoMorrows web site and make enquiries there. There doesn't seem to be any info on DRAW!, but there IS an e-mail link you could use to contact them and find out more.
That's at TwoMorrows.com.
In case you haven't checked out Comics Continuum yourself for the story, there's a picture of what looks like the cover to the first issue (that's definitely a Bret Blevins piece). Check it out below:

Oh well, I'm going to check in at Terminal 3ntertainment, my favorite comics store, and ask them whether they can get it (and to what price of course). If that doesn't give me any results I'm going to try my luck online.
Thanks for the heads-up.
all the best,
