A scan of your artwork will never look as good as the original. And computers can, and do, crash. I would just throw it all in a big box and stash it in a closet somewhere - but if you have any cool pictures, put them online. I'm sure we'd all like to see them. |

I wouldn't throw your original pieces away. I have papers stored from as long as 5 years ago, and some for even longer than that. Altough it is a good idea to scan them in and save them to cd so you have copies of them for reprinting just in case something happens to them. A couple of years ago some of my inked pieces received water damaged but luckily I had a scanned copy of them.
Edit: Damn my grammar sucks :|

Hi there!
I am new on this board (I have been lurking here for months now) and finally got a scanner!
(that means you`ll see some of my art soon)
Now for my question:
I am currently scanning some of my old work...looking through things..
Now there is a lot of good things I`ll keep but also a lot of sketches, doodles, preparation work...Some from years ago!
I can`t really decide what to do now.
Scan it in and throw it away?
(hard, but it'll save space and hassle.
Scan it in and keep it?
What do you guys do with that stuff?

I keep everything I can... it's really cool to look back on it later and say, "Damn I sucked ass."

Under my bed is completely crammed with old artwork. Matted, sketchbooks, it's insane. Kind of cool to go through it though.
Man, I was really fucked up in the 10th grade. I mean, MORESO than now. |
