Hi all,
I hope this doesn't come off sounding like a silly question.
I'm used to working in traditional media (charcoal, watercolor, color pencil mainly) and am better with black and white drawings than color.
That having been said, my question is this: When doing digital painting, is it the norm to start by putting the darker colors down first then the lighter tones or the other way around? Any particular reasons why?
Appreciate any feedback I get! |

Yeah, you can pretty much set up the tools to work however you want to. I know a lot of people start with middle tones and then add highlights and shadows from there, but you can just as easily start with a white background and darken the pic from there, or the other way around. Most computer drawing tools are very flexible in this respect. There are just a lot of other annoying little bits to get the hang of. |
