I took the lineart Joe Madureira did for a Wizard cover and colored it. It was inked by Robert Townsend and was originally colored by the great one, Liquid!. Anyways, here's my attempt. Keep in kind I'm not too handy with the Wacom yet, hope to have it down pat soon. But, I am pleased with this, although the JPEG compression sucks on it. Please Crit. Thx. (I apologize for Huge DL)

freddio tried to get me agree with him, he icq messaged me. :|
yeah sure if you're a fan of this kinda coloring. being the texture head artist that i am, ican't stand clean shading/rendering. it needs texture. doesn't matter how faint, it needs texture.

This was pretty much a practice piece faustgfx, I have never colored comics. I do a lot of drawings from observation, and I pay attention to detail/texture. I am going to start regular painting on it shortly, and you'll see some more stuff from me. I hope I didnt piss you all off by posting this :P |

To be totally honest, I think that you did a better job in coloring in the lines, certainly better than anything I did on my first try, look at my last post, I have parkinsons disease or something. I think that your colors are more outstanding than the latter. I just think in my opinion your work (coloring) was alot more bright and grabby. Very nice.

Heya, this is a great first attempt! However you might want to steer clear of shading things with black. Instead go with a complementary color or a darker version of a color.
This stands out the most on the skin you've colored... skin should never really look black or greyed out like that. At least not on a living person ^_^ If you look at Liquid's version you'll see he shaded around the face with a low-saturated blue-purplish tone.
Also you might want to experiment with not making your highlights bright white in so many places. Try using a more dull light version of the color you're highlighting. Very few things will reflect off as white, expecially colored spandex
Hope this helps some! :>

Um faustgfx, maybe 20 years ago. Good coloring is hard as hell. Bt you were probably being facetious again... as USUAL.
And forgive me for being totally ignorant of comics and stuff, but who is Joe Madureira? It seems he did the linework for 90% of the coloring jobs in this forum. His drawing's are excellent, so he is obviously a professional. But why is he so popular? Are there only two comic artists in the world, R. Crumb and Joe Mad, and nobody wants to color comics of Felix the Cat screwing bird women?
I'm sure everyone is gasping in horror now at the fact that I don't know this guy.
[edit]
Alright, I saw that he had a website and went and read about him. Pretty damn impressive. But that doesn't explain why so many people use his work. I guess he is just a huge source of uncolored linework.
