I have completed the Orc and have decided to put some of the backgrounds I did to use.
I was looking for some input as to which background looks best with the orc.
Here are three scaled down versions.

I think the first one looks the best.

second one looks the best.

like i said, the forest looks good though if you'd drop the cave wall stuff. doesn't really help in this pic though, the orc leaves little space for the background.

looks better with the second image. It fits better with the personality of the character. Just the warm colours and stuff makes him look feirce or somethign. Other 2 backgrounds are kinda to "bright" for his look as i might say. But that just my opinion

Second one. The otheres, as stated before are a bit too bright. You might also try dulling down the shiny parts to a darker tone .. so it'll help blend a bit better. hehe.. i recognize that third background Cheers for rob!

Thanks. The second one is probably the image I will be using. I tried the first one without the rock stuff but it looked to bright for the Orc.
At least now I have a couple of backgrounds completed for the next few creatures I'll be working on.

if you drew a bit more to the picture left and rightwards and made the forest a night scene and changed the lighting of the orc to bonfire color crap it might work pretty well too.

nomer dva :p

(number two in case someone doesnt understand Russian by now heh)
[edit] you GOTTA do something with those trees/peoples shadows in the right. Maybe sharpen them, or maybe smudge them? Or add some more orcs fighting in the background, or vigwams..

i like the Second one.. the lighting contrasts nicely with that dark background.
you can also try adding some colder hues in the bg, might add depth.

First off, I think the picture looks really good. I did like number 2 the best. There is one thing I noticed though. It seems to me that the right horn(his right) on the helmet is disproportionate to the left horn, too big or at an off angle. Although, this could be intentional since Orc's are rather crude beasts and wouldn't take great care in fasioning a helmet. I dunno, I'm certainly no expert.

I'd say the middle one with the desert type background is the nicest. Good work!

The second one is nice ...
but it looks kinda cheesy.
you see monsters with harsh desert-wasteland kinda backgrounds everywhere ...
So i'll go with the first one.

I like the first one. It's nearly the same of what I have in my mind when I read The Hobbit

Thanks for the opinions. My mind is made up. I'm gonna go with the second one.
