Hello everyone, I just started drawing digital art a couple months ago so I could stay awake at work. Having never before really been an artist, I've been spitting in the wind teaching myself how to see, and appropriately apply what I see. At any rate, I would love to be a part of this forum to learn and perhaps even teach!

For now, I have included a pic. It's my fourth project and first attempt at "lifelike" images. A puppy inspired from an ad I saw in a readers digest magazine one night.

I look forward to any comments .

I will probably soon post my current project(even though it's far from done) to get comments and suggestions on how I might make it great.

I like your image, and I can say that you're very good for a person who started to draw before months:-))

the technique is good, the fur looks like fur.

but...
it's a pretty flat drawing/painting. add depth, or as much as you can to a dog's head.
also, exaggerate the lighting a little. give highlights and shadows.
that's more important than trying to make fur.

This looks like a great effort for someone new.....

BUT if you really want to learn to do this right. You have to start with the basics. Why color? Get those drawing skills down first. I'd like to see ur sketch and pencil work before you start coloring...Remember figure drawing is ur friend!

Not bad.. work on the composition some more. Also, putting an object on a black background tends to mute the colors. Try a lighter background and slightly modified composition. Make your signature discreete so that it doesnt detract from the art.
