Well I'm using one of them cheapo Aiptek tablets, but uhmm.. well it takes me about 30 minutes to 1 hour each time before I can start using it, cuz I have to jumpstart it first by making heavy motions with the pen and such. (not good for my inspiration)
And when I finally get it to work, it has a lot of probs some of you may know how to fix... (I hope)
A lot of the times, it switches back 'n forth bewteen 'working mode' and 'move 1 inch on pad = move 10 feet on screen".
Monitor might be a problem, but even when I sit as far away as the cable allows, the problem stil occurs. (too often)
Also I like to sit in front of my monitor so I can see what I'm doing..
Another problem that occurs a lot is when I first lay the pen on the pad to make a paintstroke, it has a habit of 'doubleclicking' the image, and therefor creating 'artifects' I'd rather be without.
Usually, these things cannot be undone either.
Do I just have a really crappy tablet? Or can some of these annoying probs be fixed?
Right now, I can do only so much, and never when I really want to work on something, cuz I have to get that dumb pen to work first.
Blah, And even then I just have to hope it'll hold, and not make my art a mess.
Anyone... Any tips?

drx, I assume you're using the usb version
of the aiptek tablet.
If so, then don't try to get it working b/c a friend of mine had the same problem and somehow it was something on his computer b/c on his brother's it worked...
I'm using the serial version and never had or heard about any with this version.
Try to get it back to the shop and do an exchange w/ the serial version. It's working much better believe me. ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/smile.gif) |

exchange it for a wacom =) might be more expensive but its really worth it. I just bought an inutious 6x8 special edition usb tablet and it works like a baby. It feels so smoth when im using it. Now if only my desk had a good spot for it.

Hey, I just found this. Have you tried replacing the battery in the pen? Mine uses a 4A battery and had some problems before it was replaced.
I just got the AIPTEK 5x4. I can paint with the pencil and the mouse but this size doesn't seem best for drawing the proper way.
Also, I know tablet questions get posted a lot but mine is pretty specific can you comfortably hold the 9x12 in your lap? I may just go with some desk/easel.
The 5x4 is too small (but neat) and I'm thinking the 6x8 would be a little small too.

hhahaha I gots a 4X5 Wacom. A general question about tablets (yes i know, someone will tell me to search for it.. I ALREADY DID!) I have a serial tablet (wacom) and a very slow computer (166mhz PI with 48 megs RAM). Sometimes when I am drawing the computer can't catch with waht I'm drawing (like I try to sign my name, it gets the first 4 letters, locks up a little, and then just puts squigglies for the rest of the letters.
i'm getting a new motherboard, new processor, and new memory soon.. But is it possible that my problem is the tablet (since its serial) not the computer? I doubt it but if so, I need to know so I can return it and get a USB tablet.
thanks, sorry for breaking into ur thread.

Hey where'd this old thread pop up from?
Light: Yeah, mine uses an 4A battery as well, but those are hard to get. It's not very reliable anyway.
Besides, I just ordered my Wacom Intuos A3 (12x18) and should be getting it soon.
Happy, Happy, Happy! Joy, Joy, Joy!
