trying to get the hang of animating with flash. I drew each frame with the pencil tool, then went back and colored each frame seperatly. Is there an easier way? |

burnout's right.
"our culture is going down on itself"
you can stop the animation and forward it frame by frame.
personally, i think that the animation is technically ok, but im pretty sick of all the pessimism i see in the art on the net.

Nori....dont draw frames in flash..that is for chumps..draw them cell like and then scan them in...use the pen tool in flash 5 to ink the drawing and then color them...also you have to think of your animation even mnore technically then you would regularly. You must reuse and restrict animation as much as possible because of the massive file sizes created when using flash. Like if a character is moving his arm dont draw the body over again just keep the torso seperate and draw the arm animation...stuff like that..it will keep your file sizes down...flash is an excellent animation tool though.

if flash is useful for something, it's vector drawing with a wacom.. or at least so spitfire and a few others keep telling me. i wouldn't know, i avoid it like plague.

Cool thanks for the tip themilkman. I'll mess around with that.
faust: I talk to a lot of people who have negative feelings towards flash. I never really understood why. I think it's great for animations because you can make good small animations with sound and even interactivity. Why do you avoid it? |

Nori I don't know what thr problem with flash is either..do people ever go to places where there is really good flash? www.shockwave.com www.hotwired.com
check out those places..they actualy have good well executed flash...It is my thoery that people would rather slowly waite for a regular html file to download..while a graphic here and there pops in..then look at a loading page while waiting for a flash interface or animation to load..and I think that people have got burnt out on it. I guess flash has yet to show it's technical superiority for making websites...but you can do stuff you could never do in html ..and it is hands down the best animation tool for the price..if you are a amature animator you can't beat flash..!!
Nori, synj is a great example of what you can do with flash really really fast. I would'nt ask the guy any questions though he seems to be a little tight lipped on his techniques for some reason..but I think you should deffinatly try something simple for now.
Ohh and it would be a great idea for you to download and save 7th portal from stanlee.net it is good animation ..very low file sizes....and you can see what I am talking about with restricted animation..very anime technique to it. Fixed poses and entire dialoge scenes where the characters mouth is just moving in a head shot..stuff like that.
go to www.stanlee.net and download an episode of 7th portal ..just right click when the movie is done loading and select save..good luck |
